Last Months Events: (A month is from board meeting to board meeting)
On December 14th, our Lions Club held a Children's Christmas Party. There were 56 adults, 33 kids and 1 Santa Claus in attendance, according to my count. There was plenty of pizza for everyone and the kids all received treats from Santa Clause. Everyone seemed to have a great time.
On January 4th, the board meeting was held at the Center on the Hill at 7:00 PM. There were 12 members in attendence. The following business was conducted:
l We received a request through RC Joe Palli to assist a gentleman who needs a prosthetic eye. He lives in the Vestaburg area. We voted to help with the cost.
l We agreed to donate to all of the Lions District Projects for the year 2007.
l Our club pins are in. The cost is $3.00 for club members and $4.00 for all others.

DISTRICT PROJECTS. I have realized that as great a job the Lions have done to promote eye sight and all the many things that go with that from free eye glasses to assist in paying for surgeries, most of the people I meet outside the Lions Club do not realize all of the projects, other then eye sight, that we help. They are not aware of the District 14-M Disaster Fund, Beacon Lodge, Hearing Program, Lions Quest, Ross Dimarco Fund, Leader Dogs, Diabetes Research, Eye Research, Poster Contests/Scholarships, Drug Awareness, Puppy Dog, Lions Club International Fund (and all that goes with that) and the Lions Foundation. When I tell outsiders about the work that the Lions are doing in the tsuanmi struck area, they are surprised to learn. The Lions are building a "Lions Village" that will benefit a total of 11,735 people once complete. (The Lion, September 2006)
INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD. On October 8, 2006, RC Joe Palli received the International Leadership Award from IPDG (Immediate Past District Governor) Ed Gursky. This award is the second highest award in Lionism. (The pride of pennsylvania, October, November, December 2006)
EYE RESEARCH AND SIGHT CONSERVATION. At the 84th annual State Convention of Pennsylvania Lions, Past District Govern Gary Machmer reported that District M is the third top district in donating money to this cause. District T was first and District N was second. (The pride of pennsylvania, October, November, December 2006)
CLUB ACTIVITIES IN 2005-2006. Reported service projects for 2005-2006 were as follows: 40% Aid to the Elderly; 35% Youth Recreation/Sports; 33% Community Clean-ups; 32% Eyeglass Collection; 31% Disaster Relief; and 30% Scholarships. See The Lion, September 2006.
