Board meetings are held the First Thursday of the month. The regular meetings are held the Second and Fourth Thursdays of the month. (For the months of November and December the regular meetings are only the Second Thursday of each month.) All meetings are held at the Center on the Hill in Washington Township. ALL members are welcome to attend board meetings.
Last Months Events: (A month is from board meeting to board meeting)
On November 8th, our Lions Club held their regular meeting. There were 19 members in attendance.
On November 12th, the Region 3 Cabinet Meeting was held at Bullskin Township Fire Hall. Joe Palli was nominated for Vice District Governor.
On November 24th our Lions Club handed out treats with Santa Clause in Fayette City.
On December 7th, the board meeting was held at the Center on the Hill at 7:00 PM. The following business conducted:
l The St. Vincent de Paul fund raising was considered a success. They (St. Vincent de Paul) are not having any more hot dog sales until the Spring so they can be held outside. We will schedule another one once they are started again, possibly April or May.
l A Holiday Party the 25th of January. This will be a fund raiser. More information included elsewhere in this newsletter.
l Site and Seal has raised about $1,122 to date after expenses.
DINNERS - The cost of the dinners for our regular meetings is $10 per person. IF you say you are coming and we order a dinner for you, you owe for that dinner whether you go or not. Likewise, if you do not return Joe Palli's call to reserve a dinner, one will not be ordered for you. The Lions Club has to pay for EACH dinner ordered whether you show or not.
BROOMS - A new order of brooms, including large push brooms, were purchased and are available for sale at any time. Contact Joe Palli at 724-929-2387 if you know of anyone interested in purchasing a broom.
COLORING BOOKS.
Coloring books are available for $6 each or 2 for $10. We now have four titles with 2 of them being Christmas Books. The titles are: Opposites (Sesame Street); Fun at School (Sesame Street); Color All about Santa; and the last one is Color All About Christmas. Contact Joe Palli or Joe Walko if you wish to purchase any for Christmas. Palli at 724-929-2387; Walko at 724-929-4644. The coloring books will be available at the Christmas Party on Thursday night, December 14th.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS T-SHIRTS. T-Shirts still available for $5 each.
Upcoming Events:.
December 14th - Childrens Christmas Party. Pizza will be served. All members and their immediate family are invited. Joe Palli will not be calling on Sunday to see who will be attending this party/meeting so everyone who wants to attend is to attend. No charge.
January 4th - Lions Club Board Meeting 7:00 PM, Center on the Hill.
January 11th - Lions Club Regular Meeting 6:30 PM for dinner, 7:00 PM for the meeting.
January 25th - Lions Club Holiday Party - This party will be held at the Center on the Hill and start at 6:30 PM. The cost is $15 per person. The entertainment will be an Elvis Presley impersonator. There will be a large buffet dinner with non-alcoholic drinks included. Dress is casual. Please make reservations with Joe Palli at 724-929-2387 or email him at japalli@verizon.net by January 19, 2007. This is a fund raising so bring as many people as you can.
February 1st - Lions Club Board Meeting 7:00 PM, Center on the Hill.
Miscellaneous Items:.
DUES - Fiscal year 2006-5007 dues are now
due. The dues for this year are $40.00
and should be paid to Lion Secretary Ted Rodgers. Ted can be reached at 724-929-7609 if you are
not sure if you owe dues. You can mail
your dues to the Ted Rodgers III, 213 Hoffman St, Belle Vernon, PA 15012. 17 members still owe dues for year
2007. PLEASE PAY NOW.
MONTHLY TICKET SELLERS. Joe Walko is in charge of the monthly ticket sales. If you need more or less tickets contact him at 724-929-4644.
$20 TICKETS. The money for the $20 tickets that were drawn on December 8th, are due NOW and needs to be paid to FUD (John Zadrozny). He can be reached at 724-929-8293.
TICKET SPONSORS. $30 is now due for next years tickets. Either pay Joe Walko at the meetings or mail
to Joe Walko at 250 Marine Street, Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
The tickets have already been printed and the money spent. Please pay by the end of 2006.
CLUB PINS. Club pins have been ordered and should be available in January.
